Independence Day 2 moving ahead? - Yahoo! Movies UK

The producer of 'Independence Day' has said that he and director Roland Emmerich are actively working on a sequel.

“I can tell you that Roland and I have been working together for the first time in 11 years and we’re every excited about the idea of doing it,” Dean Devlin told Heat Vision.

“Whether or not we can make this happen, if we can get all the pieces to come together, that’s gonna be challenging. But creatively, for the very first time since we did the original, I feel we have a worthy concept, a worthy path to go.”

Meh, I wasn't exactly thrilled with the first movie, cool effects but the plot was kind of ridiculous, especially the ending. Hope the second one is better. Dredd looks interesting, it's not going to win any Oscars, but it looks like a good action flick.

cant tell if this is a reboot or a sequel or what..looks like a reboot
Alex Garland wrote the screenplay.

Its both in a way the first one stared stallone in the lead role.
Judge Dredd (1995) - IMDb

This one is in post production as we speak
Dredd (2012) - IMDb

I have an original first edition of the first Dredd comic from 1977.
I was hooked and bought every copy of 2000AD

And spin offs such as Judge Dredd megazines

This one one of the few movies i will make the effort of seeing in a cinema

NO NO NO WHY!!!! WHY!!! the first one was awful.

Its a modern day B-movie franchise. It was ok at the time. I am fascinated as how they are gonna make a sequel as it looked quite dated back then. They have to compete with alot of more sophisticated films that were done cheaper.

yeah i grew up on 2000ad, that and the Eagle. come to think of it, the Mekon has a spindly body big bulbous head...

Whoa! Bones as Dred!?

Imagine Deforest Kelly playing Judge Dredd. He could have pulled it off at the same age I think.

The upcoming Road Warrior/Mad Max remake worries me greatly...Also, the Spider-man remake. The third Spidey one was admittedly crap and rushed, but I still think 1 and especially 2 hold up and are good movies for what they are, comic book adaptions.
