Indian Constellations

Curiously Confused
Does anyone know if the constellations differ from region to region and if they are always of local animals? Are some supposed to be purely geometrical and others show plants or animals? Do they differ from continent to continent?

Also, does anyone know what shapes or animals/plants the indian constellations represent and what stars make their patters?
 
First off Indians from India or Native Americans/First Nations "Indians"?

Second, short answer: yeah.

Constellations as they are codified in Europe differ greatly from how they were codified in Asia and South America. Also differences in the same areas but over vast periods of time.
