Circling Vulture
Paranormal Novice
On the latest Paracast, (on John Burroughs and the injuries he received during the Rendlesham incident, the question came up about just how many other people have been injured during close encounter cases. Back in the 1990s, I asked myself the same question and began putting together a simple database listing all the UFO cases I could find where witnesses were killed or injured. This was largely before the Internet got too big, so most cases came from books, limiting the size of the catalog somewhat. But I still managed to find around 282 cases involving injury, another 31 involving death, and nine involving disappearances. Most of the death and disappearance cases were pretty lean on information, as many of you have guessed. More minor injuries were typical, such as:
burns 85 cases
eye irritation 53 cases
headaches 53 cases
unconsciousness 37 cases
nausea 30 cases
rash 29 cases
blindness 26 cases
swelling 21 cases
numbness 16 cases
dizziness 16 cases
