Interesting looking fellow some are calling Yeren

It's a shame there's no English subtitling - I'd like to know who the people commenting are, and what they're saying. That said, I suspect the man himself is suffering from some kind of rare medical condition, which causes his appearance and behaviour. The unusual shape of his skull and face are probably a result of some syndrome or other, and I suspect his behaviour to be caused by some kind of learning disability/mental retardation. If he's from a remote tribal area, there may be ignorance about medical conditions, especially the less common ones. Such tribal societies often seek explanations for medical conditions within folklore.

Hope I don't sound like a debunker ;).

Yeah, I wish I knew what they were saying too.

I suspect medical condition as well. In the thread I linked, someone posted a possible candidate for it.

No you don't, debunkers usually make little sense.

Oops, sorry, didn't see the link. Something else to consider - some of the remoter parts of China have a very restricted diet, often leading to dietary deficiencies. One major problem is a severe lack of iodine in the diet, which has been linked to congenital hypothyroidism, more commonly known as cretinism. Left untreated, the condition can lead to varying degrees of stunted growth, facial deformity and mental retardation. I believe the Chinese government made it mandatory, a few years ago, for food producers to add iodine to staples such as rice, in order to reduce the large number of thyroid disorders arising in China's rural populations.

Well this thing isn't a Yeren I'm sure. Unless they shave him a lot. I found him interesting looking though. Reminded me of depictions of some of our ancestors.
