Did the recent show deal with this vid? I noticed it is in the show forum. If not, I'll move it to the ufo forum.

Read some comments by Bruce Maccabee and James oberg on the vid here. It wouldn't copy and paste.

For more try google.

The following letter was sent by Dr. Bruce Maccabee:

Although I have not been involved in the tethered controversy (controversy is tethered to this video !).... nevertheless I have done some experimentation which could have an impact on the analysis of the tether video. In particular, I have studied the images formed by tiny particles close to the camera when brilliantly lit, in this case by a flash, but in the case of the shuttle video, lit by the sun. It turns out that very tiny particles can make very large, generally round, images whch have the characteristics of "diffuseness," often with a strange (diffraction) pattern running through it and (sometimes a hole in the middle if the image forming optics is of a certain type).. If you go to brumac.8k.com you will see a paper about "orbs". These are "flash orbs" detected only when a flash is used with a normal flash camera. (This des not refer to self-luminous orbs.) If you replace the flash with the sun (a very bright source) and imagine small particles close (cm to a meter or so) to the lens, you can see a comparison between these images and those of the tether video. This also explains how an orb" could seem to be behind an object. If the light from the orb particle is less than the light from the distant object (satellite in th tether case) the orb image will seem to disappear where the orb image overlaps the bright image. This makes it appear that the orb object (particle) passed behind the bright object.

We have visited this site, and although Dr. Maccabee has done some excellent research, we feel that the pictures on his site do not show the same phenomena that is captured on 'The Tether Footage'.

If it's ice, why is it going in multiple directions? Turbulence wouldn't explain it because there is no atmosphere to create a turbulence in.

Odd, I have to mouse over and scroll down in order to see the Bruce quote in my last reply. Anyone else experiencing this?

Your Bruce quote is in inviso-text. Thanks for the info. I was to lazy to look it up. Just waiting for someone to give me the gist of it.:)

that video is so stupid. these objects are out of focus. because of this and other optical anomalies they can appear as tho they are behind the tether and some idiots might conclude that they are ENORMOUS SAUCERS!

This is the infamous NASA Tether Experiment wherein they tried to lower towards Earth a miles long tether to see if power could be generated. After deployment, the tether snapped/broke and drifted away from the shuttle, and this is the video of it drifting away.

Those "things" floating around are obviously bits and pieces of the tether from the point where it snapped and frayed and scattered junk everywhere. I mean, the tether was ripped apart by a lot of force, and it was made of layers of wire mesh, kevlar, and other kinds of fabric that probabaly made a huge mess when it ruptured and broke.
The camera they were using (which, from the bad focus and graininess) MUST have been from Toys-R-Us or a left over from the Apollo missions or some such. What we are seeing is the out of focus scattering of debris. People are just seeing more into this than is there.

BTW< Why do the external shuttle cameras suck? You'd think they'd have the best equipment out there, yet here is a prime example of a cheap, badly engineered piece of crap.

haha

Just edit and highlight the text and choose the colour black from the colour list ;)

Also, I know some disagree, but STS-48 is the only NASA vid that gets me excited. Well, that and this:

Never done anything like that here. I'll mess around and see if I can figure it out.

STS-48 can all be explained to my satisfaction, except one object, the so called plasma charge object is somewhat puzzling to me still.

I've seen some interesting nasa footage. Can't recall what missions atm though.

The problem with STS-48 is its hard to guage distances and size with no reference points. So it could be a tiny ice particle or something alot bigger and further away.

Also, I know some seem to think that the object is being shot at with some sort of space weapon. I DONT believe thats what happened, although I do think that its not a small ice particle.

I wonder if NASA would cut the feed if there were truly hundreds of ufos flying around. I reason the astronauts would be a little more than merely "kinda quiet".

If you'll notice, none of the "ufo"s exhibit any sort of exotic motions in the tether vid. No zig zagging, stop and starts, circling etc. It's all fly by and straight line. Sure sign of debri and/or ice imo.

STS 48 gives me a semi.

I've never seen or heard of the skylab stuff, very cool. But that video interviewee has worst comb over EVAR!

Absolutely. 'Sif hundreds of fucking alien space craft would suddenly flock out of nowhere to look at a tether. David Sereda you stupid prick. Stop being such a doe-eyed believer.

Actually what am I saying... you actually think you built a craft that will you take you to the Andromeda system. There is no hope for you, you are too far gone.
