I'm watching old episodes of "Firefly" and pondering the injustice of life. Yeah--I know it was essentially a shoot-em-up TV western set in outer space. But the action worked and I think it deserved a better run. Sigh--Firefly is long gone and reality TV lives.

I just could not get into that show. Well, I like sci-fi, but I hate spaceships. I hate spaceships like I hate cars. Oh, I hate cars, by the way. If there is a spaceship or a car featured on screen for longer than two seconds, I'm probably bored.

I did like what that show was trying to do, though. I thought the premise was interesting, but I thought the execution wasn't quite there. I didn't really think the acting was on par for the release format, and that was difficult to get over.

They are replaying Firefly on the Science Channel, I think. I don't know if they plan to make new ones, or something. They definitely ran a marathon a few weeks ago. Maybe it was a one-off event.

I couldn't put Firefly in the same category as Bladerunner or Minority Report. But hey--these are lean times in entertainment media. I would gladly smash my TV except that my wife would smash me.
