That's what the newsstand edition of this mornings Los Angeles Times was screaming at it's citizens. I almost wet me pants. Instead of getting my morning coffee fruit and bagel I should be stockpiling for the future. I wondered what the hell had happened overnight. Naturally it was about the tragic events in Syria and upon reading it was a story about the rebels (?) in syria prepared to wage war and giving up on a peaceful solution. The sub-headline read " Syria rebels say they're preparing for war" which lead me to wonder just what exactly it is they have been doing up until this point. I seem to have an extremely shaky grasp on this word "war". I know officially it is a rebellion and no one declared an act of war...I saw star wars so I know of rebellions ... but semantics aside if someone is fighting back against an unwanted force wouldn't that constitute a war? I guess it's time for me top check out wikitionary or whatever the neck it's called
My second thought was that sam zell was taking the roll of hearst and his roll in promoting the spanish-american war. or maybe just trying to grab some eyeballs and thus a little more income. Maybe all of the above.
My third thought was that this ( the headline) would turn out to be one of those self fulfilling prophecies thing, I thought I heard in a newscast yesterday that somebody at jcos said the military is ready if called upon? I hope that was from a dream last night. Sounds silly I know but coming from a place that is none to shy about overseas adventures I am concerned here.
Just out of curiosity is there any southern california members with la times home delivery? Did you wake up to the same "news" I did?
Edit: I tried changing the thread title in tapatalk, no go. As I was walking to work in other news stands the headline was "girding for war" which is probably what I saw, I just needlessly altered it in my head
