<!-- ARTICLE CONTENT --> TOKYO–The wife of Japan's incoming prime minister Yukio Hatoyama is a lifestyle guru, a macrobiotics enthusiast, a cookbook author and a retired actress.
Miyuki Hatoyama also says she was abducted by aliens nearly 20 years ago and taken to Venus.

Wow.. when i read the title and first few lines, my reaction was along the lines of: "Finally a credible witness with some ties to the higher-ups. Someone who will be heard and get some answers!"

Sadly, I kept reading the article past the first sentence to where she goes on to describe her captors as Venusians and Venus as being very green.

You really have to wonder if Mrs. Hatoyama has so much as glanced at a photograph taken by any one of the orbiters to have visited our sister planet; Venus-Express, Messenger, Magellan, take your pick. The Russians even landed on the surface with the Venera line and showed us once and for all that it's not exactly a vacation spot.

If you even thought for a moment that you had been abducted and taken to a planet within our solar system... doesn't logic dictate that you would, I don't know, Google said planet?

All this woman has done is bring additional ridicule to a scene that surely doesn't need her help.

She's first lady of Japan for Christ sakes... does she really need attention?!

Sigh.

Edit: I took a second look at this story, just to be sure it wasn't a joke. Reuters corroborated here

I wouldn't dismiss a story just because of some dubious data. IMO much of what aliens have said is obvious nonsense, even if the cases may be real. In this instance the problem is a complete lack of evidence AFAIK. If there was other witness testimony or an injury/implant, I'd probably believe it despite the Venus bs. Unfortunately the lack of evidence is compounded by clear evidence for eccentricity--the reincarnation story. So I 'd agree with your overall assessment.

You wouldn't disregard someone's claims because they're entirely ridiculous? Having her husband vouch for her travels to Venus would make somehow more credible? In my mind that would just make two people in need of serious psychological evaluation.

Her first husband was clearly right - she had a dream. There is no reason to speculate about anything else...I mean, it happened while she was asleep and her body stayed put. There is no indication of anomalous knowledge....helloooooo, reality calling?.
The woman is by all appearances a fruit loop who believes that those around her should indulge her fantasies.

Of course nobody's going to Venus. But if her husband and/or others had seen her being taken, just like in the brooklyn bridge case, the story would be more believable, regardles of any bs an abductee might've been told about going to Venus.
