...in a way I suppose.

Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the Experience was found dead in his hotel room today. His death signals that all members of the trio that changed Rock forever are now dead.

R.I.P.

That sucks, he was a truly an amazing drummer.

I got to see him play earlier this year at an 'Experience Hendrix' concert Jimi's sister put together and he seemed to be a bit off to me, but then again he was 61 not 21.

I list him among the top rock drummers of all time, but I'm biased because Hendrix is my favorite musician. His drumming on 'Fire' and other classics is crazy. Really brought a free form jazz feel to rock, like a more controlled and studied Keith Moon.

Jimi could have chosen pretty much anyone to be his drummer after he made it big, including Buddy Miles whom he played with in band of gypsies, but he chose Mitchell and I think that says a lot (even though I personally prefer playing with in-the pocket drummers myself!).

RIP Mitch! At least he went out peacefully while on tour, can't feel too bad about that!
