Basically...

Gray began to see flaws in Sitchin's accounts of Sumerian texts. He was concerned, for example, by the ridiculous notion that Nibiru had a 3600 year orbit. So he looked through the Sumerian texts and couldn't find any reference that supported Sitchin's claim. He then found other errors in his work and questioned why Sitchen's *translations* differed so much from the established Sumerian dictionaries and translations (the best....404 Not Found

Rather than thinking Sitchen was hoaxing or lying, Gray felt that he himself was somehow in error and contacted Sitchen for clarification. Two months later he received a reply from Sitchen that deflected from the questions he asked. Other letters were equally vague and meaningless.

For the life of me, it's never made any sense that Sitchin has had so much success and so many people supporting his claims. I've had fiery online debates with people who vehemently defend him despite his lack of evidence and conflict with facts. Not just the poorly educated either, I've debated some people who seem to be fairly well-informed and intelligent. There's no internal logic to his stories, they don't coincide with the academic research and they fly in the face of planetary mechanics.  They even live in a little historical vacuum where the world wasn't populated by literate civilised peoples with a history of astronomy. Even 3600 years before now, the Chinese, Egyptians, Greeks, Phoenicians etc etc couldn't have failed to notice (and record) a bloody great planet cruising through the skies! :D

He sounds like a kindly old man and likely harmless. He's feathered a pretty nice nest out there in NY too. He's pulled the wool over a lot of people's eyes, but they are people who choose to let it happen.
