CHATSWORTH — CHATSWORTH — As a young assistant district attorney fresh out of law school, Scott Minter said he was taken aback by an early case he prosecuted in Murray County Superior Court.
“It was a DUI case, and when the guy got in front of the judge he didn’t dispute the DUI,” said Minter when speaking to the Rotary Club of Chatsworth-Murray County recently. “He said, ‘Judge, I admit I was drinking and driving and I admit that I hit that tree.’ But then he started talking about the Secret Service and them using a UFO to shoot a laser beam down that blinded him. He told the judge that’s why he drove off the road.”
The man received his sentence after the judge rolled his eyes, Minter said, but that was not the end of it.
