There's going to be a special show about the Kennedy assassination and the lone gunman theory on Sunday the 16th. Might be an interesting show if anyone's interested.

They have a blog post about it here.

Yeah, I know...it would be in bad taste, but I have imagined it would be cool to set up a shooting range, with an accurate recreation of Oswald's point of view, an accurate moving target, and place bets. The first guy, or gal, to duplicate the 'magic bullet' shot takes the pot.
I know bullets are very capable of doing some funny stuff. There were lots of wild hogs where I used to live. My brother and one of his buddies fired into a herd and hit the same boar. Both bullets struck precisely up the pig's bung...there was no visible entry wound. That much is enough to make one appreciate the strangeness of the luck-influenced turns a piece of lead can take when propelled at high velocity. Here's where we, all three, said "Whoa?"...When we hoisted the body onto the back of an ATV, we simultaneously noticed that both bullets were sitting neatly in the mouth. If that can happen, the "magic bullet" theory, crazy as it sounds, is plausible in my mind.

I saw a show (can't remember where) in which a group duplicated the shot Oswald took with realistic dummies set up in the exact positions that Kennedy and Connally were sitting and found that the bullet landed almost exactly where it was said to have landed in the assassination, and was shown to be almost free from damage. Granted, they used an expert sharpshooter in a controlled setting to take the shot, but they did manage to replicate the wounds and conditions that were found to be present during the actual event.

It seems to me that the real conspiracy lies in if Oswald acted alone, or if there was a government/mafia conspiracy (or other organization) to have Kennedy hit.

Interesting stuff either way.

My theory is that Kennedy was porking the wife of the chief of his security detail. There were multiple other conspiracies to take him out... Cubans, Mafia, CIA, Unions, KKK, Military Industrial Complex, but his dick did him in.

When Carlos Hathcock, probably the world's greatest sniper who ever lived was asked if he could have pulled of Oswald's shots, he laughed and said there is no way he on his best day could have.

That was enough for me, and should be enough for anyone.

I saw a sniper pull off the shots on a documentary. Oswald was found to be lucky though, due to the miss fire rate of the gun he used.

I recently learned something interesting about JFK. I read he was wearing a back brace and this might be why he stayed upright and didn't slump after the first shot. Is it true? Dunno, but if anyone else can add to what I found I'd be interested in reading it.

Actually, no you didn't. He did not fire 3 shots in less than 7 seconds, and score 3 hits. You saw a guy hitting a stationary target.

It was utter bullshit, and other than showing what a bullet could do, it was propaganda to get people to believe the lone gunman theory. It obviously worked on you.

No, I saw a guy hitting a watermelon prop in a car while driving down the road.

I'll be convinced it's propaganda when proven.

There is one documentary where they shoot melons. Unfortunately, it was on "Bullshit" with Penn and Teller.

The other documentary where they used a real shooter in a crane box, shooting gelatin dummies that had real cadaver bones inside them.

Neither used moving targets. I watched 3 documentaries on the anniversary and none of them had moving targets.

Pen and teller did it too? Not what I saw.

K, Crane box sounds a little familar. Geltaint dummis? Nope. They tested the dent in the bullet via real pig corpses and bone. Hopefully some day I can find the two shows that impressed me online. Til then, I am sorry, I only have my recollection and I can understand that people may question it. It would be nice, if people to jump to wrong conclusions about what I saw though.

I have seen tests with moving targets. Either you saw the same show as me, and my recollection is incorrect, or you haven't seen it.

For fun.

There's many theories, and everyone thinks they're right.

The drummer in my band spent many years as a sniper for the army, with multiple tours in Vietnam and Panama.

I asked him if he thought he would be able to make the three shots from the book depository. He replied that there was no way he'd ever make three shots like that.

He'd only need one.

For what it's worth...
