Ron Collins
Curiously Confused
I am reading Tim Goods new book and something that he points out that I had never head of before. He says that Kenneth Arnold was not just joy flying over Mt. Rainier on June 24, 1947. Instead he was actually searching for a US Marine C-46 transport that had crashed somewhere in the area a few months before.
Now the story behind this C-46 crash is intriguing. Apparently, they finally found the aircraft with a remarkably intact fuselage. The parachutes and lugage were still on board. However, not one of the 32 bodies were. Arnold says that it looked like mountain lions drug all 32 bodies away. To me that sounds utterly unbelieveable.
Apparently the official military story is that it was too treacherous to bring the bodies off the mountain. That seems highly unlikely to me. I cant believe that they searched for these guys, found them, and then said "Oh, there is no way to get them down. Lets leave them there." Also, it is claimed that the coffins for the 32 marines were empty.
I find it interesting that this happens and Arnold sees the "saucers" around the same area. I wonder if it is possible to confirm that there were no bodies at the site.
