I know I haven't posted anything in forever, but something happened this week to my grandma and I thought I would share. It isn't anything particularly major, but it has happened before to her and me and I find it interesting.

Two or Three weeks ago my grandma (who is very independent and still lives alone) was having some breathing problems and had to be admitted into the hospital. She was in there a over a week and when she first went in, my aunt had taken my grandmas purse back to her house because she didn't want to just leave it at the hospital. My grandma was in the hospital a little over a week and when she got home, my aunt brought her purse back to her. A bit later, my grandma went into her purse to get out her little baggy that has her lipstick in it. It is really the only make up she wears and she aways keeps it in the bag in her purse because she only wears it when she goes to town or out for something. The baggy wasn't there though. My grandma called my aunt who checked to see if it had fallen out in her car or something. My aunt couldn't find it though. My grandma emptied her purse to make sure it wasn't hiding and put everything back in. A few days went by and my grandma never found it. She kept asking me if I had any she could have, but all of mine is sparkly lip gloss that grandmas don't like. I talk to her several times a day and every time we were talking, she was really annoyed about her missing lipstick and we both ended up thinking my aunt probably lost it somewhere. She finally gave up and bought some at the grocery store. As previously mentioned, my grandma lives alone. Well the other day she went to bed and when she woke up and went into the kitchen, her purse was sitting in the middle of the kitchen table with the lipstick baggy kind of pressed sideways on top of it. I know it sounds unbelievable, but absolutely no one else had been in her house except for her. It wasn't anyone playing a joke on her. It was just weird.

The house she currently lives in doesn't have as much stuff happen as the limestone house we used to live in, but there are still some small experiences here and there that mostly consist of footsteps and the smell of fancy pipe smoke (in a non-smoking house). Whatever it is that is in her house will sometimes tug on womens hair or touch you. It doesn't feel threatening or scary, but maybe I am just to a point where stuff doesn't scare me much.

When we lived in the old rock house, something extremely similar happened to my grandma. This was before I was even born.. For some reason my grandma had this really fancy fur coat and really no where to wear it. My grandparents were just typical hard working ranch/farm kind of people. My grandma met a lady and they ended up talking about coat and my grandma ended up telling her that she can come look at it and have it if she wants. They exchanged numbers and one day the lady called and wanted to come by. My grandma went upstairs (the most haunted part of the house btw) and dug the coat out of the back of the closet and hung it up front and center. The lady came and they went upstairs and the coat was gone. This completely confused my grandma and she ran around frantically searching the entire house and ended up being completely embarrased. The coat wasn't found that day and the lady ended up going back home. Then one day months later, my grandma went upstairs to get something and everything in that particular closet had been pushed back on each side as far as it could go from the middle and the coat was hanging alone in the middle.

I am generally a very organized person and when I was growing up in that house, there were a few instances where things would turn up missing that I knew should be in place. I would go crazy looking and get really freaking upset. It's just effing annoying ya know. Then whatever had been missing would show up where I KNOW I had just looked or in a really odd place (like hanging from a pole on my canopy bed... like in the center where it is all dangling over the bed.... SO FRUSTRATING! I didn't have brothers or sisters and my grandparents just didn't do that kind of stuff to tease me. That is exactly what this little stuff felt like though.. like someone was completely teasing me and laughing about it.

I guess it's just some sort of attention getter. One of those "hey I'm here too" sort of things. I hope so. If there is some deep symbolic meaning I am supposed to get from things like this, they should take stuff from someone else. haha! Or maybe I am way off and both houses have little ghost ferrets running around. Who knows.

Thanks. Those are fantastic stories. I think it's fairly common in haunted houses and during poltergeist cases for objects to disappear and reappear in the oddest of ways. My cousin told me about someone he worked with who lived in a haunted house. It's been awhile since he told me but as best as I can recall his wife kept some trinkets above the fireplace. Anyway, they disappeared one day. About a month later she was cleaning up the house and she found them all neatly lined up under the bed. They also heard footsteps in the house when no one was there. Anyway, thanks again for sharing- I love those kinds of stories.

It seems like whenever this stuff happens, when the stuff is eventually found, it isn't just scattered or unorganized like it just fell down somewhere. Stuff always shows up as if it was placed there in a very purposeful yet playful way (like lined up under a bed).

I find it a lot more fascinating when things seem to be somewhat intelligent or conscious and not just a residual repeating sort of thing.

It sounds like the ghost at your grandmother's house wants her to get a new shade of lipstick. ;)
