Okay, okay, I'm a crass imperialist. I admit it. But let's cut the crap and start terraforming.
I think they call it geoengineering on this planet. I believe the term "terraforming" applies mainly to places other than Terra. Sorry to get all English-teacher on you.sorry, i did not clarify, they are terraforming earth not mars.

yes you are partially correct. but there are camps that say we have to terraform earth first because we have screwed it up so badly it needs to be terraformed back to a earth like state.
It seems stupid to me to not try building sustainable Moon bases first. It's a whole lot closer. First the Moon, then Mars, then the Asteroid Belt, where there are untold natural resources to be harvested. In the main belt there are between 700,000 and 1.7 million asteroids larger than 1 km. We go there, hollow them out and build a bases. Then we start harvesting hydrogen from Jupiter to fuel the whole operation. When do we get started, boss?Mars would make a good testbed. It's far enough away that 60 minutes can't get to it to do an expose'.
You don't want to fiddle around with where you're living. What if you screw it up worse?
Don't even get me started on coal-mining operations in the Appalachians.but they do and they are.
