Serios reseacher?or promoter of fraud? I hear her a lot on c2c.I would like gene nand chris to inerview her..post your thoughts on her and her work.

Serious researcher? Promoter of fraud?

Yes.

Any credible researcher in the field has helped debunk some hoaxes. Some are better at it than others, but it goes with the territory. I don't know of a single one LMH has helped expose. She continues to promote known flakes, crazy made up stories, and whatever weird crap she likes the sound of.

Howe has a track record of serious research, but seems to have become less discerning over the last ten years or so by latching onto her share of genuine woo. Still, she deserves credit for doing genuine fieldwork in contacting and interviewing most witnesses directly.

She was a guest at a UFO conference in my fly-over town. She made opening remarks about how the energies from surrounding cities formed a powerful aura confluence or something. She might as well have talked about a seance. Afterwards, she presented videotapes of UFO witnesses under hypnosis as if it was gun camera footage. She seemed to absolutely believe that smoke and dreams were proof. That and the reaction of the crowd almost killed my interest in the topic.

Will to believe, doesn't say it. Iron will to believe!

She has done some good work. But she has been fooled by several people and sometime she sounds silly

I suppose none of us are exempt from that. Anyone who truly believes that strange things happen and admits it will seem silly to someone, and we're all potential victims of fraudulent claims. Does Linda go beyond being a victim to knowingly promote claims that have been proven to be bunk? I don't know for sure. Maybe someone else does and can provide some examples.

It comes down to how long can you participate in this field and keep making money as an end goal? In her case things started off as a serious journalist and now she's healer, chakra witch woman with an advanced case of UFOitis. How many older "researchers" have also gone down this road? Where is Dolan heading off to?

It seems to me that saner models include uncle Stan who has stayed on message sans MJ12, or Vallee's thinking person's approach - do the best you can and then use your good brain to make real $$$ elsewhere, or take on the role of the commentator and historian i.e. Clark. People who want to make $$$ from this field need to pay attention to Redfern. He can keep cranking out the possibilities of the paranormal without keeping his feet too long in any one pool. He's not selling himself or singular ideas, just researched potential realities which are quickly followed by something completely different. That's the Brad Steiger approach and it works.

In an email exchange I tried to get Linda to comment on Greg Valdez's recent book and was told Gabe Valdez had called her some months before his untimely death and congratulated her on her cattle mutilation research. She went on to suggest that this meant Gabe Valdez agreed with her conclusions that cattle mutilations were associated with aliens and alien spacecraft.

When I pointed out that both Greg and Gabe were on record stating that cattle mutilations were not the work of aliens but rather humans she continued to reference the phone call and the fact that Sheriff Graves has told her it was aliens in the 70s. Therefore it is aliens.

I thought her mischaracterization of Valdez showed a complete unfamiliarity with his work or appearances. I even forwarded her the last interview Gabe Valdez did, which was for OpenMinds TV. He is very clear in that interview that his decades long investigation revealed that a human government agency was conducting "very sensitive research" the nature of which he knew, but could not mention. Weeks later he died. All very dramatic and newsworthy in the Paranormal/UFO/Cattle mute realm, yet she seemed unwilling to acknowledge it whatsoever.

I personally think the Valdez material is the most significant development in Ufology and cattle mutilation research in decades. Maybe ever. It astounds me that someone known for the subject would not be all over it regardless of its effects on their paradigm one way or another.

If I remember correctly he died less than a week later.

Greg's book may be "the most significant development in Ufology and cattle mutilation research... ever" but that will change dramatically with the publication of Stalking the Herd. I go places where no one has gone before and take the Valdez ball and run it into the next city/state/country/ continent. Just sayin...

And I'm chomping at the bit to read it! I keep checking my mailbox for an advanced copy. :) It's going to have an index right?

It's going to have an index right?
Sure, if someone steps up to help... I can only do so much w/ a publisher that doesn't care about things like indexes, professional copy editing, professional layout and design people or (god forbid) a real honest-to-goodness marketing person. Anyone know of a good indexing program that will work with .pdfs? Thank the goddess that Gene is stepping up to help lay this monster out. His help is proving crucial and timely!

Is there going to be a Paracast book purchase option for @Christopher O'Brien 's Stalking the Herd? Maybe this could be a $$$ injection into the Paracast's well-being fund and charge us all a premium price for an autographed copy, extra $ for an official Christopher O'Brien Paracast guitar pick, maybe a little extra for your own piece of mutilated cow leather (thinking of Venusian dog hair here but in no way comparing what promises to be the definitive take of the phenomenon to that old hokey bit), but I do think you've got a captive audience here. A lot of us would like to help out the show and show our interest in your work - it could be a great way to raise some funds, no? Just a thought.

I accept that Gabe's investigation solved a big part of the puzzle in his area, but don't think he claimed to have the answer to every case everywhere. Gabe and Greg seemed very careful to stay with what they could actually support. My hats off to both of them.
