Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Captures Apollo Landing Sites

Free episodes:

Great images. I posted this link in my recent thread that got closed. I was hoping people would check these images out. The one of the foot trails left by the astronauts is amazing.

Ill tell you what I find kinda suspicious.... and its got nothing to do with fakery or UFOs.

I find it kinda bullshit, to be honest, that they just happen to get these photos in time for all the 40th anniversary stuff going on. Am I right in assuming this was kind of a fluke -- or did they have the ability to photograph these sites whenever they wanted?

Well, the LRO just got there and these were taken before it actually rached it's 'camera orbit' so you could say they rushed these photos a bit and that they are teasers. Perhaps they were trying to make the anniversary, but the LRO has been planned for years and I don't think they planned the launch to coorespond with the anniversary. The photos look pretty indistinct to me, at least at this magnification. I hope the next set will be better.

The moon landing disbelievers will still say this proves nothing as these pictures were dished out by NASA. There is already lots of proof that we went there and they still choose to disbelieve...

If only these losers who say we didnt get to the moon would latch onto a more interesting mystery, rather than this long put to bed nonsense.

I would suggest really looking at why Neil Armstrong changed so much post moon stuff... why he withdrew... and what he meant by that cryptic speech he gave to those students on the 50th anniversary.

Gareth, can you access BBC iplayer from where you are? They did a long documentary on Neil Armstrong the other day trying to find out more about him and why he is such a recluse

I believe so. Cool Ill check it out... I cant right now because my Internet is capped at dial up speed until next months cycle (Wednesday), but I will check it out, thanks.

I saw a snippet of an interview he did with an American journalist recently. I know why he claims he avoids the lime light, but I just think there very well could be more to it.

Neil Armstrong has always been the quiet type. Guess who told Neil's father that Neil was going to be the first man on the moon???? It sure as hell wasn't Neil. It was a news paper reporter calling to get his families reaction. Neil didn't think it was important. It was a mission to him.

Geez people... get over it!

fast forward to 2500 years from now, when civilization is nicely recovered from whatever disaster happened between then and now...

decendants of the moon landing disbelievers will see odd-looking anomalies on the moon and theorize man was there before, citing foot-shaped prints as evidence, and light reflecting off some odd spider-shaped objects as proof! they will be villified, humiliated, and perhaps even stoned, or pilloried. ;)

I'm not sure exactly what we are supposed to 'get over,' but the idea that Armstrong saw this as 'just a mission' is not supported by the facts. If that were so Armstrong would have let Aldrin take the first steps, which was in the original plan. But he overrode that to take the steps himself. His first words, often misquoted, were, "That's one small step for -a- man, one giant leap for mankind." which show he certainly understood the historical impact. It's a shame so many people misquote him by leaving out the definite article (proven by computer analyses, btw. He was just talking fast). The misquote makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. We also have the issue of his cryptic speeches and changing words over the decades, which have nothing to do with his reclusivity.
