Mac's eagerly-awaited last title will be ready to ship in just over a week. It will be interesting to see the reaction, and I'm sorry that he won't be around to enjoy it. It's sure to polarize. Fans will love it, mainstream ufo researchers will pan it, and some will just scratch their heads. I also hope that there will be a sizeable portion of readers who will have their minds blown or at least changed by it.

I say you, me and Redfern reconvene after we've all read it, and discuss. Not necessarily in public, either... many beers, the desert, and a starry sky would work for me. I'll borrow the funds from Redstar corporate overhead! :-)

I say that's the best idea I've heard in a long time! Come by after opening day and we can take in a ball game too.

Nick and I are still trying to get Paul off the metaphoric fence on this. If so, he'll be an even more formidable ally. I think that we are cheerleading ideas like Mac's, while not necessarily "believing" in them. I don't think he did either.

I remember when he first started to think about putting his ideas with regards to indigenous humanoids into book form. He asked me what I thought (we were traveling in California at the time). I told him that I didn't really buy the hypothesis, but I would buy the book, and keep an open mind.

He smiled, and said he didn't really buy the hypothesis either - that was what believers did. He just wanted to start a discussion, bandy some interesting ideas about, look at things in a different way, and see where it went.

From author John Shirley:
"The Cryptoterrestrials is the most refreshing speculation on the paranormal I've seen in ages. The ideas in this book will be harvested by science-fiction writers and TV shows like Fringe for decades. Even skeptics will have a great time reading this well written book of wild conjecture. Mac Tonnies' final Fortean landmark is the Book of the Damned for the 21st century. Fans of the paranormal: be there or be square.”
Mac understood that it was the journey that mattered, not the destination. I look forward to taking one final trip with him and his cryptoterrestrial friends!

Hi Greg,

I think that The Cryptoterrestrials, combined with Doing Time, which we'll be filming later in 2010 (it's going through one final revision right now), will mark Mac as one of the great "what ifs?" in science-fiction / paranormalist writing. He was that good.

And maybe we set up a public discussion with you, Greg and Nick soon thereafter on The Paracast. :)

Hey, if you guys are into it, count me in for that chat as well.

For Mac, I'll come back and join the discussion. I suspect he was closer to having a bead on the situation than anyone else who has written about this topic...

Thanks my friend. This will be a memorable episode. :)

Absolutely wonderful news. Not only will Mac's book be a milestone in this subject matter, but a round table discussion on the book , with people I highly respect is also something great to look forward to.

I personally can't wait for the show wish it was on this week. I have read enough UFO stories and heard enough UFO show's over the years and i have indeed speculated many times in regards to the UFO Phenomenon, i do have a cultural bias to how i view this phenomenon, this is not unusual or not a natural thing we humans do. I prefer certain UFO researchers, and the only reason why i have favourites is, because i believe those people were or are still closer to the truth then the rest. The following will remain my favourite researchers, Mac, Vallée, keel, and Imbrogno.
