Considering that he's know for being a douche bag troll, I wouldn't take much of what he says at face value.

A computer is a computer. It's a matter of preference.

LOL- the fact that the writer ends up zealously recommending the rather obscure Ubuntu OS as well as phrases like, "but the first time that little fucker throws feces at me, he's going to the hot dog factory" might have given you pause to consider that this blog entry might not be a consensus opinion?

Lance

Like I said, douche bag troll.

I'm kind of getting the feeling this is sort of showing the true believers here, i really do not know if the author has any valid points, so i'm assuming everyone responding to this post and the authors points as not being true are truly gifted programers that have at least a very competent knowledge of programming in this area to call this guy a D----e Bag. Seriously guys calm down and discuss.

Really none of his points are valid?

I've use Pro tools, Final Cut and Avid for audio and video editing and no doubt i prefer the mac software for video and audio editing.

This guys points were that for certain application Mac is not the best choice. Also that pricing is indeed higher in some cases for the same hardware that could be running another OS.

Please how about a rational discussion of each of these points and not a knee jerk reaction to defending ones favorite toys.

Ward, the author is known for being a troll. That's all I was saying. The fact that both pixel and I pretty much said use what you prefer should show you that we're not true believers. I actually use Windows 7 more than OS X throughout the week because that's what we have at work. I prefer OS X. No big deal.

About the hardware being more expensive, you're right. Macs tend to be more expensive but not by much. Compare what you get when you buy an iMac and a similar desktop PC. You'll see that it mostly comes down to preference.

Also, of course Macs are not the best for certain things. You want to play games? Don't buy a Mac. You want to edit video right out of the box? Buy a Mac. iMovie is a fantastic consumer video editing program that Windows does not have.
