Making buildings bird-friendly

Free episodes:

there is another way that glass is used to kill birds. we have a bird feeder by our front window and a Coopers Hawk uses it to trap birds against so he can grab them easier. I wish i could get a photo of it but it happens SO fast. it brings a whole new definition to the term "bird feeder".

That would be cool to witness, I know birds using tools isn't exactly an unknown event but still this gives new meaning to the word "bird brain" insert groan here :(

Do you know or think maybe the hawk could have picked up on this trick by itself having had a bad experience with the feeder ? I can't see a hawk actually using a feeder to help itself to seed, maybe some rodents had gotten at the seeds as well and the hawk saw it's chance, A little trial and error maybe ?

oh no.. the hawk has this down to a science. the feeder has a roof over the tray so he could not even fit under there. he times his attack to when a bird is just about to land and he "body checks" them into the glass and grabs them then bites them on the neck.
