You knew it was bound to happen. Randy Lee Tenley, 44, of Kalispell, Montana, reportedly was wearing a Ghillie suit, dressed as a Bigfoot, and trying to create a Bigfoot sighting on U.S. Highway 93. Yes, he was attempting to pull off a hoax. Instead, he ended up dead, struck by two automobiles, on Sunday evening, August 26, 2012, south of Kalispell.

Tenley was first struck by a vehicle driven by a 15 year old Somers girl in the southbound, right lane. She could not get out of the way fast enough to avoid hitting Tenley. Then Tenley was struck again by a vehicle driven by a 17 year old Somers girl who hit his body in the road.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Schneider told the media: “The mechanics of the crash, everything of that nature, you know that stuff doesn’t change. It’s still a crash involving vehicles and a pedestrian. So we’re still doing the same investigation, but once we started speaking to parties, then someone involved in it, trying to ascertain exactly what brought that gentleman out to Highway 93…I would not guess that would motivate anybody to be out on Highway 93.”
Schneider says that they are awaiting toxicology results to determine if alcohol may have been a factor in Tenley’s behavior.

Schneider says friends of the victim said Tenley was wearing a military-style camouflage ghillie suit in hopes of creating a Bigfoot hoax.
My condolences to Tenley’s family and friends, needless to say, but, also, I have great sympathy and empathy for the two teenagers whose lives have been traumatized forever because of the unwise decision of an older man who should have known better. My hope is that these two young people are receiving counseling and support due to this death caused by Mr. Tenley’s unfortunate hoaxing behavior.

Why was a 15 year-old girl driving? Can you have what in the UK is called a 'provisional' licence but only once you are actually old enough to drive. In the UK the age is 17 and I thought is was 16 in the U.S?

Nobody deserves to die like that but really, he had it coming in his lack of personal safety. There is a reason movie-makers get sealed off streets and stunt people to do this kind of stuff.

And I don't like hoaxers but that is irrelevant to this man's life being lost in a stupid way. Another shit bigfoot hoax is not going to convince anyone of the reality or not as the case may be, so why bother. I really hate hoax videos. I don't put them in the same category as for instance, Jim Moseley's hoaxing.

Realizing that fear and surprise produces adverse reactions in most folks, I would be afraid someone would shoot me. I mean really, someone sees a fully grown cousin It walking out of the bushes and they are armed, they might reflexively get off a few rounds as they are screaming at the top their lungs. Then after they have killed you and discovered you are a moron in a suit, they would probably curse you and kick you a few times for good measure.

I admit I've done some stupid things (and even stupider people) in my lifetime but seriously, damn. Nature just thinned the herd a bit. I am sorry it happened by using two teenagers who are probably emotionally scarred after all of this.

As trainedobserver mentioned, I'm also amazed this guy lived long enough to get hit by traffic. I'd think either someone who was afraid or someone else who was actively looking to hunt Bigfoot would have done him in much sooner. It's MONTANA for Christ's sake, not Massachusetts. I'd bet a person with a bumper sticker stating he was a gay, Muslim, socialist, anti-gun activist would stand a better chance on Montana's highways than this guy. Sheesh.

Can someone please explain how a 15 year old girl was driving? Is that the legal age in the state? Can't work that bit out. Is she in trouble for driving underage without a license? I had better go read the article - couldn't be arsed earlier...

WTF - I can only think they were in some stupid suicide pact? ~What a waste of a couple of Swedish blondes. Often the toppest of top totty!
