Medical Miracles: The business of Facemaking

Sanity is a default
This stuff is awe-inspiring, especially considering the Frankensteinian element of it all. However, take heed of the subtext here: "Playing with guns can be dangerous."

This really is just amazing. I am pleasantly surprised that the patient's sense of smell has returned! I would have thought repairing all the nerves a task too far but apparently not.

Looking at the patient in the photos taken after his accident, I can sympathise with him becoming a recluse. Our faces are so important to our well-being. Obviously I have never met this patient but I really am just ecstatic for him! If I had not been shown, I would have found it hard to believe the new face was a result of a transplant. I have friends nowhere near as good looking as this guy is now!

It is great that this can give hope to other people suffering with horrible facial injuries and deformities. I really hope this man can put the past behind him and get back out into the world, meet girls and have a job and just be a normal guy again. All these things we take for granted and I am sure this man won't.
Top marks for the surgical team. An actual miracle was performed I'd say!

I agree. To be disfigured must be a exceptionally painful form of suffering. You got to feel happy for this fellow. I'd certainly be interested to follow this guy's psychological trajectory post-op. Donning a new face must present some pretty unique and powerful challenges all its own.
