Michael Crichton Dead at 66!

Free episodes:

Maybe it was the re-make of THE ANDROMIDA STRAIN that did it?

I'm sorry, that sounds cold hearted.

I like some of his books, especailly the ANDROMIDA STRAIN. I think the first movie version (directed by Robert Wise) is one of the greatest movies ever. I love that film, and Michael Crichton has a small cameo in an operating room.

Damn.

As a kid Crichton was the author that really got me excited about reading. I went through a period of getting every new book as it came out and really, really enjoyed them.

I expect it was the same for many young guys, but his books seemed to be EXACTLY the sorts of stories and scenarios that interested me.

Really sad. I didnt even know he was sick. Has it been a long battle, or was everyone else in the dark as well?

Here's a link to a fascinating lecture he gave some years back, which gives you some insight into his interests and beliefs:

Aliens Cause Global Warming: A Caltech Lecture by Michael Crichton

I skimmed it (sorry I just didn't wanna read it all.):p I'm a Stephen King fan myself. Dark Tower is the greates series of fantasy..blah,blah,blah...but I digress. 8) I was interested when he wrote about is Scientific American taking on the role of Mother Church? It does seem that whenever anyone even "thinks" about things like spirit or esp or possibilty of survival of the body the big clubs come down hard. I like what Sheldrake said: "Science is a method..not a posistion. Still, I do respect the scientific method and I've benifited from medical science big time. :) I just don't like the "tone" of people like ritchie Dawkins and Mikey Schermer trying to push personal agendas off as if they are the final authority. Anyway, RIP Michael Crichton...You were one of those folks I have always admired and been in awe of....in other words a writer!
