I don't buy it. Generally, only earthlike planets are thought to be habitable, which suggests similar evolutionary outcomes. Had aliens wanted to devise something appearing like us and harmless, they could've done a better job than greys with wrap around eyes--or even stranger entities. And their behavior is often not at all consistent with Farren's suggestion. Abducting and mutilating isn't a great way to appear harmless.

I do believe some of the entities reported are not genuine in the sense that they're phony creations not bona fide beings e.g. a fish-like thing.

Farren was the singer with the proto-punk band The Deviants between 1967 and 1969, releasing three albums. During 1970 he released the solo album Mona – The Carnivorous Circus which also featured Steve Peregrin Took, John Gustafson and Paul Buckmaster, before ending his music business to concentrate on writing.
