The nuclear power industry as it exists today is an extension of weapon development. It has more to do with having produced plutonium for bombs, and profits for special interests than producing electricity based on sound science. The potential hazards of existing plants and problems of waste disposal far outweigh the benefits. Thorium reactors would be a saner approach.
