MUFON?

Free episodes:

Curiously Confused
I want to start to get more knowledgable on this subject and start to look into these things more. I know MUFON is pretty respected, but every time I start to give them a chance, somebody associated with them sounds like a freakin wacko. For instance, I was talking to a guy at the gym. He is in the loacal mufon and starts telling me about how they had a conversation with a guy who was, and I shit you not, "in psychic contact with Big Foot and UFO's".

When I told him that I thought that was about the bigest load of crap I had ever heard, he told me that I needed to approach this with less skepticism and open my mind.

Anyone have an opinion about MUFON? Is it worth it?

Thanks

I hear good and bad about MUFON..... I guess being such a geographically widespread organisation, the type of response you receive depends greatly on who you talk to.

Becuase they are relatively well known, and pretty 'mainstream' my guess is that anyone who has a '"sighting" or "encounter" will be more likely to contact them before anyone else. In the event of an encounter, I personally would be more likely to contact someone in who I have a great deal more trust in their opinion. I like to think that i am open-minded and do respect the unique perspective that someone who has experienced an event may have, but I too would question the authenticity of someone who is in contact with UFOs AND Bigfoot. It would certainly be interesting to see what they have to say and see if it correlates with the reports of others.

This psychic guy could very well be a total wacko, but then again some people would consider ideas that you take seriously to be "the biggest load of crap they've ever heard".

In the end you have to decide how many of your familiar conceptual floatation devices you're willing to loosen your grip on, in order to consider something legitimately new.

There's no good reason to either accept or reject anything out of hand.

I recall Bigfoot being dealt with in the MUFON training manual. It wasn't being endorsed, but there are some cases where ufos are *reported* with a bigfoot coming out, or whatever, so they felt they needed to mention something for field investigators.

MUFON isn't as good as it used to be. The shift seemed to of occurred around the mid 90 to late 90s. I left around 99 I think.
