Multiple Names

Paranormal Adept
Some people have heard me call in to Coast to Coast and recognized my voice but I called using a phony name. I wanted to explain the reason why I do that.

I use fake names each time I call because there is a chance my work or others might be listening and I try to keep my UFO research to myself to avoid public humiliation.

I don't want jokes cracked around work about that wierd guy who is into UFOs and it might hurt my job. If you knew what my job is you would understand.

Therefore I use a false name when I call coast to coast and I have called in about 20 times.

I use my real name on forums and on my website and the worst I've had to put up with are the cyber bullies over on the JREF. But I chose to go there and it was my fault for assuming it would consist only of objective, respectful participants. But I weathered that barrage and I'm stronger for it. I've even picked up work because of the job I did with my website. It's nothing to be ashamed of. We are what we believe and notwithstanding improper context, if we can't express ourselves openly then there is a serious problem. The more we voluntarily confine ourselves behind a facade the more we've just done their job for them and perpetuated the problem.

FREAAAAAAAAAK.

Seen any little green men lately? huh????:p

I understand the reasons people can be reluctant to give out real names etc with these topics and I'm not for a second knocking that practice.

But personally I have zero problem telling anyone. Reasons being is that other workmates etc usually fall into a few categories:

1. the religious - easy to prove it's more kooky than anything I'm into.
2. the scientific/logical - well with them I will only point out facts or very strong evidence and the fact that modern nations' military's have been looking into these things at cost.
3. the totally uninterested - they could care less.

Anyone with more categories of workmates to worry about, please post and I'll happily share what I would tell them - I think it's easy to convince people you are not a 'doe-eyed believer' and I think that is the only type of person who may have a problem at work.

I've never given it any thought to be honest. But I do wonder if people who are critical of using an alias(?) for forum names use their real names when they are gaming ? (assuming they do so) for that matter why not go all the way and post your real likeness instead of an avatar, if you feel that strongly about it. As far as this forum I've posted my real name several times in my posts but I will still answer to spookymulder.

The issue for me is more about how being afraid of the stigmatization only helps to perpetuate and marginalize those who give in to it. But if you're someone who honestly doesn't care either way and just want to have fun with an alternate identity or avatar, that's a whole other issue. Go for it and have fun.

Well I suppose it is way too late for me to use an alias, huh? Well, no problem. Any one who knows me for any length of time knows I can be a disagreeable bastard. Hey, no surprise, right? LOL!!!

Hey what's a pie without the crust! I respect that more than pretentiousness or disingenuousness any day.

More than that Ufology - I am one of those people who love the crust - be it pizza or pie, it's often the part I'll make sure to finish if I'm not gonna finish the lot off anyway.
