My One and Only Possible Haunting Style Experience

When I was around 18, my friends and I were road tripping around some of the country back roads (no I wasn't drinking). We decided to go down a road near some docks at the Mississippi River near Hannibal MO. No one was there and it was pretty dark. The gravel road ended in a circle (like a redneck roundabout) and we decided to drive to the far end of it. As soon as I parked, out of nowhere, I felt this horrible chill run down my back as if something was telling me I shouldn't be there. I didn't say a word but threw my car into drive and fishtailed to face the roundabout exit and floored the gas peddle on the way out. A few weeks later we heard something about a couple who had been shot and found face down in the water near the spot where we were. I can't find the news story at the moment, but it would have been sometime in 1992 or early 1993. It was right outside of Palmyra MO near the Mississippi river between Hannibal and Quincy Il. I don't believe in dead people coming back to visit, but I do believe that we might be deceived from time to time by something sinister.

Truthfully I don't believe that the dead have any idea what is going on in our realm. I am not sure what it was. I only called it a "haunting style" experience because I was spooked and it seemed fitting. I firmly believe in fallen angels and, well, angels who are still obedient to God. So, I believe that angels/demons may be at play in most haunting experiences. Of course my beliefs are founded in scripture, but no one really knows exactly what is going on, so I keep my ears open to other ideas about it. If I hear something that is backed with good evidence, my mind (regarding openness) usually follows.

I gotcha. I would have called your experience either some form of paranormal intervention or some sort of paranormal sensory response. Hauntings in my understanding by definition occur on more than one occasion.

Yeah that sounds good. Thanks. There's my lingo ignorance getting the better of me again.
