I have heard of this kind of thing before, but I noticed an article on MSN today so thought it might make for an interesting topic of discussion. The article (with audio/video) can be found here:

I'm curious if anyone here has ever experienced an unexplained hum before and if so, did you find the cause or do you suspect a possible cause? The article even mentions a specific age group who are more likely to hear it. It also seems that people are bothered enough to go to officials who never seem to find a conventional/industrial cause.
There is a Wikipedia page dedicated to "The Hum" which includes a timeline that starts as far back as the 1940s, which might indicate that it isn't just a modern technology thing from the last couple decades. Apparently at least one suicide in the U.K. has been linked to this phenomenon.
