Mysterious oil weeps from the walls of a Sydney house

Nothin' to see here
The comments left on that article are pretty brutal. I'm not saying I buy into the family's explanation of what is going on but walls and pictures seeping oil have been pretty well documented. Could be a hoax, like so many other cases, or there could be something legit going on. Anyway, thanks for the link. Love reading about these sorts of Fortean things.

Thanks for posting. I can't be too hard on these people since they have just lost a child and they apparently don't charge anyone to come to the house.

Well they lost the child in 2006 I think. Apparently this has been going on since then.

I have to say Im extremely skeptical on this. Surely someone could go in and analyse the walls. Maybe keep the owners away from the house for a week and see if it persists.

They literally had a reporter doing a live cross this morning on the Today show and you could see the oil running down.

I wish someone would upload the vid to YouTube. Sounds intriguing. I wonder if there's any other activity in the house- knockings, things being moved about, balls of light, etc.

Thanks. I think it's interesting how depending on the context people could view this as something terrifying. There have been reports of this sort thing happening during poltergeist cases. If most people lived in a house where this started up they'd be freaked out and probably want to move. But these folks and the people going into the house find it comforting and miraculous. My inclination is that it's all a hoax but I wouldn't be shocked if there is a genuine phenomena in that house. Considering how long it's been going on you would think some serious investigators in Australia would be clamoring to have a look.

I recently saw a pic of a stigmatic and it seriously freaked me out. Blood was coming from their eyes and hands. I thought it was a horrifying sight. Yet there are people who find such things comforting.

Scientists are probably too busy doing more important things. The house I grew up in did the exact same thing. Sometimes it was quite watery. Other times it was of a thicker consistency. The verdict: rising damp. It's quite common in older houses here certain areas of Australia.

If you watch the news report they mention that the oil was analyzed. I'm not going to rewatch it but I think the verdict was it was oil and a few other things. You could be right, that there is nothing unusual going on here. I think it's more likely a hoax is being perpetrated. But I also think there could be something legitimate to all this- and if there is that's important.

If i remember correctly, the news report said that the oil was analyzed by a well known government lab and the results came back as inconclusive.:)

Okay, the guy's English is bad but he seems to be saying they found mixed with oil gold (probably not hearing that correctly), water, uranium. Then he says they can't explain the results, which I took to mean they found them anomalous. Fast forward to around 3 minutes into the video.

Sorry. I was going by a local station's report from yesterday.:)

By the way, while the tv report gives the impression it has been analyzed and they found out what it is (the guy tells the reporter they have the findings and motions to the house and and tells the reporter she can look at it) the news article linked to states:
Extensive scientific testing of the oil has failed to identify exactly what it is but that has not stopped hundreds praying at the home.
So who knows- maybe they haven't been able to figure out what it is. My guess is it's been analyzed and they know what it consists of- but they can't explain why it's occurring, at least by natural means. Or maybe they just have a general idea of what it is. Anyway, it's an interesting story and I appreciate the original poster posting it.

Yeah I wouldnt trust what the owner says either. He could be putting an enormous amount of spin on the analysis results.
