Paranormal Adept
I just ran across this and thought others might find this interesting too.

There is evidence of a megalithic culture in northern Africa who built a astronomical monolithic structure. Some religious precursors to the ancient Egyptian religion may have had their origins here and the structure predates Stonehenge by at least a thousand years.

Have you seen the John Anthony West video with the astronomer talking about this? It's amazing!

Nabta Playa is a very interesting site. It's held as evidence of a meeting place for groups from across North Africa. The wiki article is let down by the 'archeaoastronomy' section. Brophy and his book get cited when neither he or the book have the support of archaeology. Whenever Orion's Belt gets dragged out and described in megaliths it should be a warning to the reader.

Gobekli Tepi was a similar cultural meeting place. Whilst the Nabta Playans were making ceramics and beginning to think about ceremonial megaliths, the guys at Gobekli Tepi were already raising their megaliths and had been organising quarrying for hundreds of years. The wiki on GT is an example of how good it gets sometimes...Wikimedia Error

Are you an archeologist or an astronomer? Why, when "Oreon's Belt gets dragged out" should it be a warning? I would be interested to know.

Herschel, Tellinger, Hancock, Bauval, Brophy and a number of others enjoy seeing Orion's Belt reflected or designed into megaliths and Giza pyramids from around the 5th millennia BP. They tend to use what they claim to see as supporting evidence that there was a pre-Flood lost advanced race. The lost, advanced race is then often suggested to have been in contact with ancient astronauts...aliens.

Of course what I see as a familiar warning, you may well regard as an invitation to the mysteries of pre-history. :)

Ancient astonauts, etc. aside, are you saying that you see the conncection w/ Orion's Belt as a warning of nonsense because you don't think there were pre-flood advanced civilizations? And are you saying that you don't think there was more than one global catastrophe?

I was reading Velikovsky back in the early 70's so I think, for a number of reasons, I'm sympathetic to the research that indicates that there have been any number of advanced civilizations and we've been around, or some humanoid races have been around for a very long time. I'm just curious about your point of view and why you have it. Do you think we've been in straight line Darwinian evolution?

Don't know if you want to say, but am I talking to a man or a woman here?

Cheers.

I don't believe there was a 'Biblical Flood' so it's natural that I don't believe in an advanced civilisation preceding the flood. I don't believe there was a lost, advanced civilisation or even help from ancient astronauts. I do take the Orion's Belt connection as a warning of having my leg pulled by an author with an interest. Naturally, our ancestors were very aware of all the stars in the night sky and what we call 'Orion's Belt' would be known by them. The 'warning' part for me, is when an author uses Orion's Belt to whip out of thin air the idea of some lost race...'the ancients.'

I've arrived at my point of view from being a fan of Daniken and Berlitz...even Billy Meier. An hour's reading shows these guys to be misleading and lying....Daniken has served time for fraud. So I was once sympathetic too. Gotta admit to being embarrassed to hell when the penny dropped I'd spent some years buying all the books and babbling to friends. It's like an adult insisting the tooth fairy exists and then one day finding out the truth :)

I'm in the habit of reading. I read, I think and then I might go and check it up. I fully accept the Theory of Evolution and it's cultural pattern in the development of humans.
