I think theyve known for quite some time, the space around us, altho not teeming with life, certainly contains life, i think its inevitable that life being delivered to the planet, rather than popping into existence here will become the norm in scientific thinking.
Also i think planets like mars would of seeded when the conditions were perfect, how advanced the cellular development got in the time frame of the right conditions i think we will find out soon, because some people at nasa already know, i just think for some reason they are guageing reaction, snippet here, high strangeness there, drip drip drip, i have no idea why, except ofcourse funding.
