Thought I would start a (separate) thread on this fabulous case. I've yet to see anyone 'debunk' this ... and in my mind it is still one of the best UFO videos on record (... although grainy and a bit crap :D)

So ... anyone have any thoughts on this? Has anyone followed up on this since the Sightings programme of many moons ago?? Was it just total bunk? ... or really one of the most compelling pieces of UFO footage ever???

The only new information I've heard on this recently was something I saw on the UFO Hunters schedule:

Reverse Engineering – airs 3/19

"Aviation expert Bill Scott has photos of the Nellis object and knows what it is"

That certainly is a sensational teaser. I assume they are talking about THE Nellis UFO video but I'm not 100% clear on that. I googled around a bit for Bill Scott but couldn't find anything on the web in relation to his claims about the Nellis object.

I haven't seen the episode yet. Can anyone comment on what Scott related?
 
Well, I just watched the Reverse Engineering episode and there was absolutely no mention of the Nellis video and no interview with Bill Scott from Aviation Week. If they filmed a segment w/ Scott they didn't include it in the show or perhaps Scott declined the interview at some point after the show schedule was released.

Perhaps somebody could ask Bill Birnes what happened to their big scoop? ;) Seriously.

I don't want to understate this as a positive ID on the object in that video would be about the biggest real scoop the aviation/ufo world has seen in ages.

The video is certainly intriguing, but I caught myself wondering if one of the guys was telling the truth about the Nellis video camera being turned off when black aircraft are being tested. Maybe that only happened after this was leaked? Or is it even the truth? Seems insane not to film the test flights because they might help in evaluation of performance or in the case of failure of some sort. In fact, we don't even know if this was filmed prior to public knowledge of the Stealth. A thorough investigation might have centered around the film itself to pin down a time period for its typical distribution, any enhancement or distortion, and/or editing. Sightings may have had budget restraints, but they also could have had a copy, I realize. Still, this is such a superficial investigation.

So I guess I don't want to rely solely on the testimony of the people interviewed. It doesn't detract from the interest of the object in question, but it may mean that there is some disinformation afoot.

Wish I weren't so darn suspicious.
