A new French report released on May 31, 2010 concluded that UFOs are definitely real and possibly of extraterrestrial origin. While not an official government study, the Progress Report of the Sigma/3AF Commission comes from a highly credible source, the Aeronautical & Astronomical Association of France, known as the 3AF, which established a Commission on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena back in May 2008. The Commission’s President is Alain Boudier, a former French Defense attaché, and one of its key members is Jean-Gabriel Greslé, a former fighter pilot who studied at the U.S. Air Force Academy and later became an airliner pilot with Air France, where he experienced a couple of UFO sightings. Greslé has published three UFO books in France, including Unidentified Flying Objects: An Airline Pilot Talks (Guy http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http://www.openminds.tv/french-ufo-report-081610/&h=8ff7d

So he published 3 books on UFOs - I'm sure he has no vested interest in wanting to bring UFOs to the forefront of people's minds.
And let's get this straight. UFOs exist, as anything in the sky that can't be identified is one. It when people start assuming that they're aliens that we have the problem - they could be, but we don't know that. Too bad that's sort of boring. Flock of birds vs. Alien spaceship swarm, who wins out in interest?

The Commission’s President is Alain Boudier, a former French Defense attaché,

He has not written any books on UFOs.

Angel you said he wrote 3 books on UFOs. Is this what you call being accurate?

Sorry I didn't specify the person I meant - it's now in bold. Is that more accurate for you? Rest assured that I try to be careful in what I say, if not I can take comfort that you'll be there to jump down my throat as soon as make an error. Unlike some people, I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong. In this case I did not specify who I meant, but I stand by what I said.

When I read his criticism, my first thought was: wow, that might be the dumbest thing I've read on these forums (which is saying something). It was obvious to anyone with an elementary school education what you meant, and who you were talking about.

I admire the restraint of your response. ;)

removed my post

had a bad hair day

got over it.

Actually no Angel was attempting to spin the story and I pointed out his incorrect assumption.

Your cheap shot at my education sounded a bit silly.

That also was wrong, I actually graduated from College.

This just gets more amusing.

The report is pretty clear in remaining speculative and sees the information in the dossier as suggestive only.

It must be hard to get out of bed for the authors...nothing new since 1990. I've saved it and it goes on the virtual mountain of articles and reports. The conclusion is this...

As you can see, if we have made real progress in the evaluation of the data that we have, we're still not able to
be very assertive tonight. Whole sections of the problem remain in the shadows... which makes it even more
exciting.

You know? I actually admire them for their stubborn optimism.

Those who frantically try to debunk every single thread are clogging up the forum with "their belief system" and everyone who posts any facts that disagree with "their belief" gets hit with cheap shot personal attacks like what Paul Kimball attempted to do above.

Please move the heated debated issues to this thread https://www.theparacast.com/forum/t...ey-are-not-mutli-page-civil-war.?goto=newpost

There is no need to move anything if we stay on the topic of the original post, which this thread seems to be doing.

I was not trying to spin the story at all. I was just pointing out that one of the people involved may have a vested interest in promoting the study to sell some books.

The article is interesting. Though perhaps not ground breaking I will always applaud a concerted effort to investigate the phenomenon. I like that the report leaves things open without declaring certainty. I do see Angelo's point that listing a prolific(yes, 3 books makes you prolific) UFO author on the team can suggest a slanted thesis. Though, I believe that the report relies equally on his experience as an accomplished pilot and his Ufological knowledge. I don't really see an overt ploy here from his involvement. So I will give it the benefit of the doubt and say that he probably brought a good skill set and body of knowledge to the table. They do seem to making a very concerted effort towards transparency so that will earn a good measure of respect. All in all I think it is a good thing.
