Paranormal Novice
Hello everyone,

I've always been interested in the unknown, especially the UFOs... or UAPs or whatever they're called now. I've never experienced anything paranormal, and I don't know anyone who has (that hasn't been full of it anyways). I just started started listening to the show a couple of months ago. I downloaded probably about 75% of past episodes and have enjoyed them all (that shrieking sound at the end of some segments destroys my ear drums though :) ).

Anyways, as a skeptical person, the paracast was a great entry point for me to delve into the topic of UFOs. I am appreciative of Chris and Gene's (and David, when he was cohost) level-headed approach to the topic and the way they blatantly do not accept everything guests bring to the table. I finally felt I found people who were seeking truth and not egotistical, nut jobs, or just plain dumb, like so many others in the field. Gene and Chris, thank you from a skeptical newbie. You guys have opened my eyes to many things. Keep on doing what you're doing, and the world will be a better place.

Welcome to the forum, and a very encouraging first post :) . I think maybe we need a few more skeptics around, and recently I suggested that ufologists and skeptics should try to build some bridges ( figuratively ), and started with a post in the Ben Radford thread here. You are more than welcome to jump-in and participate whenever you feel comfortable. Although he expressed an interest in the idea, Ben hasn't showed up yet, and I'm not sure that he will.

Thanks for being so welcoming. I want to clarify I am not a 100% skeptic to the ufo phenomenon. I believe that something is, in fact, going on and flying through airspace, however I am not convinced of much else. Although I do not buy into every account, the Rendleshem incident and the evidence found there is what made me concede to the fact that, at least, something is happening, whatever that might be. Thanks again.

Edit: I guess I want to say that I am simply seeking the truth, and I am open-minded to it; I'm just not convinced of almost all of the claims in the field of ufology.

That's a terrific attitude and I'm much the same way. I'm a truth seeker not a person of "faith". That's not to say that I don't have some sense of faith in things that are known to behave in certain ways, but that's a different kind of faith than belief in the religious or mystical. The mystics here tend to get rather upset with me sometimes because I think religion, New Age, and mystical beliefs contain a heap of mythology, if not outright nonsense.
