New Movie: "The Fourth Kind"

Sleeping with one eye open . . .
I have recently seen a trailer for the new movie entitled "The Fourth Kind," starring Milla Jovovich, due to be released on November 6th. It is evidently based upon events which occurred in Nome, Alaska, and center around a psychotherapist named Abigail Tyler. Has anyone seen a screening, or are otherwise aware of these incidents in Nome? If so, is this Hollywood non-sense or worth the trip to the theater? Thnx.

It is highly coincidental that you've seen a trailer for this film as it has been heavily promoted on this website. ;)

The only person I know that has seen this film is Paul Davids Executive Producer of the Showtime movie Roswell. He attended a small private screening in Hollywood in September. While he says the film does not appear to be factually based on any particular event in Alaskan history, by his comments he seemed reasonably impressed with the film implying it fairly presented the trauma abductees experience and the derision endured by practitioners in psychology that choose to study the subject.

I imagine there will be an extended discussion detailing the reactions of forum members after the film's release. Speaking of which, do not be disappointed if this thread disappears as several discussions of this topic already exist here and the moderators do not like duplicate discussion threads. Gareth are you still counting?

Yeah, I am SUPER stoked on this movie... and not just because I oh so desperately love Milla! *sets stalker glasses down* It seems to really bring out the high strangeness factor in a truly creepy way. It's also nice to not get another dose of "space brothers/we're here to save you" propaganda from Hollywood like we've been seeing so much lately.

I'm thinking, "No." This is just a horror film in alien clothing. I don't do films that intentionally try to give me a heart attack.

It looks pretty freaking scary. At this point I don't care if it "based" on anything real or not. I've just been in the mood to see a good scary flick. The last probably 10 movies I have seen were all kids movies including "Hotel for Dogs", "Night at the Museum 2", and a bunch of others. This has GOT to better than those.

well, whoever goes to see it, will they give a brief on it? no spoilers, just let me know if the gore is alien gore, or human gore. I can handle the alien gore, but human slaughter gives me the creeps. oh, and no sudden fright moments like something popping up when you don't expect it... that makes me scream, then laugh like crazy, then cry for a while. sucks, but I have learned to deal :o

Heh, see I am quite the opposite. Besides movies that make you think, I'm a sucker for anything either scary, creepy, or visually stunning with strange and weird creatures.

I like creepy, spooky movies, myself. But Idk..the trailers just don't seem to look like it'll be that good....looking forward to hearing reviews from any Paracasters soon:)

Yeah, we will see... I will let you know. It looks like a kick ass horror movie. Looking for anything else (all these horror movie in alien clothes comments) is ludicrous. Looking for wisdom in Hollywood is like looking for insight to Jesus in the Kur'an. You're close, but in the wrong library.
