Paranormal Adept
After listening to the interview with Doug and Budd Hopkins, I was reminded of certain events in my childhood and wondered if anyone else had experienced this.

I remember on a couple of occasions I would go through our house looking for my mom or my brother and I wouldn't be able to find them. I would check outside (if it wasn't winter), and go back in and call for either one and check every room in the house. I would go back to my room to read or whatever and some time later I would hear movement in the house. I would go check and my mom would be in the kitchen or the basement (or where ever) and she would say she had been there the whole time.
Now I realize that maybe there were instances she may not have heard me calling for her or I missed the room she was in, but I know at least a couple of times I would make a pretty thorough search of the house because I had to talk to her right that minute and I couldn't find her.

Not only did I experience everyone gone, I used to wake up and it seemed like there were lots of people walking around the house in the dark. More than once I saw what I thought were midgets wearing furry suits walking past the doorway in the middle of night.

Question to both RED and SKUNK-APE:
-----------------------------------------------------

How old were you when this happened?

- - - and SkunkApe, have you seen the paintings by David Huggins, with "the little hairy guy" ?

I think this occurred when I was about 8 or 9 until I was maybe 15. I was a very heavy sleeper when I was kid, so I never woke up in the middle of the night.

I think it was when I was between about 4 and 7. One of my cousin's had similar experiences in the same house and doesn't like to stay there overnight. I haven't seen the Huggins' painting of the hairy-guy, but some of those mantis things he paints ring a bell.

I've never had any empty house events. I've had some experiences as a child involving what I called the "blue people" or the "blue men." All I consciously remember of this was an eerie bluish glow in the room. This happened around the time I was age 4-7.

The one thing I remember as a child is a recurring dream of a Hulk-type "monster" coming out of the closet and giving me a physical exam. My mother was right beside me just watching, but doing nothing. 'Hulk' would lay me on my back and move my arms up and down. I remember being quite frightened, but I never was 'hurt.' Part of my fright was that my mother seemed unwilling or unable to protect me from this guy. I still remember, nearly 60 years later, three or four of these dreams very vividly. I can tell you the color of the carpet, the furniture, and exactly where I was in the room. I'm not thinking these were anything more than dreams, but in light of what people report here it's just kind of -uh- interesting.

I also have a lingering, vivid memory of being in a room with men wearing a Dracula, a Wolfman, a Frankenstein, and a Mummy costume. They were scaring me, but never hurt me. I remember there being two people in the room that were supposed to be my parents, but they weren't, and they seemed to be completely unaware of anything I said to them.
Surely, it was a dream, but the way it stuck with me is a little odd.

Wow, that surely is similar, skunk. I know some people would love to force these into some sort of screen memory/abduction scenario, but I just have no sense of that at all. I'm thinking it's somehow symbolic or weirdly cultural in nature. Little kids are likely to have anxiety about a world they know they need help with protection.

I think that many of these experiences in early childhood have to do with being more open and/or connected to the 'collective unconsciousness' as it was phrased by Jung. These experiences always have some sort of archetypal quality or undertone to them.

Interesting, I just recalled a dream I had when I was 3 or 4 about a long wooden room with wooden benches and sunlight streaming in. In part of the dream, the Count, Big Bird, Bert and Ernie come out of box and play with me. I remember being really bummed about waking up. I don't remember reoccurring bad dreams, but my brother did have bad dreams quite frequently when he was young. Oh, crap, I seem to recall that he did have a bad one about UFO's?!?!?!

hi,

while the notion of a superbeing able to fool and deceive your eyesight and hearing may be outlandish to most people, i for one am a beleiver.

i have had the same sort of experiences, more than once the person i was looking for although in the same room as me was hidden from my sight, on returning from searching for them all around and seeing them, then inquiring as to where they had been, the reply was' i've been here all the time '. Once the shop i wanted to visit seemingly dissappeard although i walked by it several times until i finally spot it.

given the sucess of famous illusionists like Chris Angel and others, i don't think this t is a very difficult trick to achive
