I have been out of work for years. I just got a job that pays UNDER minimum wage and I am damned glad to have it. (are unemployment rate has been between 13 and 15% here). I just sent Gene a modest donation (very modest!) thru Paypal.
You can do it too.

Either way works. It seems to me that if you sent the money to Gene by way of PP, its pretty straightforward, goes to him, doesn't go to some one you never heard of etc. Hence no chargebacks, reversals, etc. You are making a simple donation; there is no merchandise to be lost in the mail or fight over. Can't see a big drama arising out of a simple transaction.

From my personal standpoint, PayPal is easy to set up, easy to maintain, and, for me it just works. I rarely have difficulties. Setting up an alternate payment method, such as a credit card processor, would be less convenient for people to send donations or buy stuff. The PayPal setup accepts payments via a PayPal account, and a credit card, at processing rates (for us) that are much the same as the credit card service.

I know PayPal has some sort of relationship with Chase bank, in terms of their debit cards, and GE Money, for their credit cards. So they do work with regular financial institutions to do their thing.

And don't forget that Paypal's original founder, Elon Musk, is these days CEO of SpaceX, a company that has been contracted by NASA to build a space "taxi." That sounds like a good thing to me.

But you missed my point. I do not care if you like Paypal. I do not care if some guy on youtube doesn't like Paypal. Millions of people use it. Millions of people like it. It works for them. They don't care if you like it or not. Its not about "instant gratification"; its about what works for many.

A mailbox stuffed with money is great. Checks are delightful. Wire transfers are amazing. But PayPal is still the most convenient for the most people. If there is a more effective online solution with tens and tens of millions of users, I'd be happy to consider it. I did look into Google Checkout, but wasn't impressed.

But you gotta do what you gotta do.

I sent you a rate card via email to the address you gave when you joined our forums.

Please contact me directly if you have questions.

We won't post the rate sheet here, simply because it's being redesigned by our new marketing rep. But anyone who wants to advertise on the sites or shows should send me a PM and I'll send it off.
