Skilled Investigator
I sit back now and wonder? where are we now? Flaps are a fewer and far between and the generation of investigators/researchers before us is now getting older.the last "real" program to be put forth was MUFON"S BAAS/SIPP program.(of which I was involved).that was shut down in less than a year.(although we had some startling results)so where do we go from here? The big thing now is "ancient aliens".While there are some newer "researchers" so to speak there is no one on the horizon to take the place of stringfield,Friedman, etc.I think Gary mckinon was the last person to really "crack the wall".and he did so more as a lark than a real effort.I get the distinct feeling that we are letting ourselves be cast adrift at sea.So heres the question...........so now what?

There are still plenty of reports. The phenomenon hasn't gone away it's just not getting a lot of media hype right now--possibly because it's overshadowed by the bad economy etc.

and the generation of investigators/researchers before us is now getting older....While there are some newer "researchers" so to speak there is no one on the horizon to take the place of stringfield,Friedman, etc.

There are plenty of newer, good researchers, like David Rudiak, Tom Carey etc.

Don't worry, UFOlogy will regain the spotlight, and by then we might really achieve something.;)

There is not lot of young researchers coming up agreed, but we still have young men like Paul Kimball , Nick Redfern, Greg bishop, and others dong there thing within the field. They are in the mid thirties-early forties that's young like plenty years ahead of them yet. I would get despaired yet just because some of the more established figures are getting ahead in years, just be happy they are still here and doing the stuff they do.

In saying that; i think the youth are becoming less interested in the paranormal. It sad this subject has become more marginalised over the years. Most authors of UFO Books are in their thirties or above, so there might be a crisis ahead for information or maybe we have to wait and see if this fresh new blood is there.

Major Sightings seem to be less frequent. At least in the western hemisphere. There hasn't been a unique case for a while. The last one that caught the eye of the media was Stephenville Texas a sighting occurred at a place called Dublin. That i laugh at because it has the same name for the capital of Ireland. Another unique UFO case was the Phoenix lights so there is a big gap in years between cases that caught the imagination of the public. I think the case from Oregon is interesting. I believe Frank Warren might be heading to that area to investigate that area from himself. Fingers crossed he gets plenty of interesting data and evidence to show the public, when his finished there.

So what now....?
Well, as far as I can tell, the truth of this phenomenon isn't going to be exposed by any researcher. Until whatever is behind the curtain comes out and smacks everyone across cheek, we just wait. There haven't been any great concrete revelations in the past 60 years and I wouldn't expect one anytime soon. I know that's a bit of a downer way to look at it but I think it's the reality.

We can still investigate, question, speculate, analyze photos and videos, interview the masses, all that. But it still doesn't get us any closer to the truth until the truth makes itself known. Just my opinion.

As far as the ancient alien thing goes, ... well it just seems to be something different to fill time slots. I'm not seeing a lot of very good compelling evidence that "they" have visited long ago. Even if they have, where does that get us?? It doesn't tell us anything about said "visitors" which is what we really want to know. If "they" are out there or even here, then it is up to "them" to unveil. I don't think anything we do will crack open the truth to the phenomenon.

There is no physical evidence in a museum agreed, we have never found an ALIEN fossil agreed, or any evidence that would confirm ET in the past agreed. But the fact is there was something in our skies that was not or's in the 1940s. So who owns this objects? and you got to wonder also, how long have this objects been around for? The myth and legends are giving us impression they have been here for long time. We debate this myths and legends and there merits, but remember, they are talking about the same stuff we are talking about now.

We are modern myth believers to people outside this field don't forget that. Researchers might have a bias, a particular point of view when it comes to how they view this subject, but without, those researchers, many UFO case's would never see the light of day and would be forgotten over time, so If you believe Roswell was a crashing of alien spacecraft or not, is not the point, the fact, that a researcher enlighted us to this case long after it was forgotten is important. But Roswell the story has today become a myth. With believers and disbelievers.

The ball is in there Court agreed, but we have no idea behind the scenes was there "Contact" with Alien Beings. But if the stories of Fighter pilots going up and shooting and these Craft is true. What is up with that? That is an hostile act is it not? WHY would the United States shoot at this things? Just to have their technology? we just don't know enough here to judge what happens behind the scenes.

I hear you, .. I agree. It's just a difficult, if not impossible, nut to crack. If the government has something we still haven't been able to get at it and as time passes the liklihood of getting at it diminishes. The government and all it's secret affiliates have done some unspeakable things and it wouldn't surprise me if this whole ET thing has been twisted by certain organizations to create fear, confusion, disorientation, and all sorts of other things. And for the benefit of them (government goals). So it may be well worth their while to perpetuate the UFO stuff.

On the other hand, maybe they do in fact have something from "elsewhere" and they haven't the faintest idea what to do with it. I suppose that's possible, but it would seem that someone would have cracked or slipped up to unveil the core to the mystery. So far, no go. Sixty plus years and not much to speak of. I don't know why this would change.

That's why I say it is up to the phenomenon to enlighten us, cuz we don't seem to be able to figure it out ourselves. And I don't mean to slam on the hard work researchers do. We need them and they have let us know a lot about what people are reporting. But as to what else we can do, ... I don't know, other than wait for the UFO enigma to take off it's mask.

What I really dislike these days is people claiming to 'have researched' a subject when all they did was using almighty Google to 'dig up' something other people have done. Happens a lot on other message boards on the subject (ATS is practically unreadable to me, I just cringe too much). Every idiot these days knows how to use a search engine, real researchers still go out in the field , f.e. Phil Imbrogno, Ted Phillips, Chris O'brien etc. .I think there always will be people with the drive to do this, the 'new wave' probably has yet to emerge.

I look around ATS sometimes but it's hard to follow the threads there. I agree with the other stuff you said.

i welcome your thoughts.I frequent other sites abroad to see whats going on in Europe and south America.it just seems that a new initiative needs to get off the ground.(or started underground for that matter).in any event there MUST be some technology that we can use to see from the outside in on this planet and not the other way around. I cant shake the feeling that there is a shit load going on we just are not seeing.

Just wait. Something big's bound to happen sooner or later. In the meantime, keep watching the skis!

Er... skies...
