one for the Trekkies

Cool.

This is where I insist that I'M NOT A TREKKIE, JESUS I SWEAR!!! because, ahem, what I'm about to ask might lead people to assume otherwise:
I understand the plot involves conflict with time-travelling Romulans...so, how do they deal with the fact that when the Enterprise first encountered Romulans in TOS (at a later point in time than this prequel) nobody knew what they looked like, and the Federation had had no contact with them since the Neutral Zone was created?

It troubles me, although possibly not as much as the fact that it troubles me troubles me.

I hope J.J. Abrams doesn't screw this one up. This is his last chance with me. I thought 'Cloverfield' was a complete wreck. I should have taken Dramamine before I watched it. I won't even mention 'Lost'...what an epic march down the garden path. It seems like he just gathers a crew and starts filming without a script sometimes.
