Of course I can't even begin to think how many jokes one could make about such a topic... Penis enlargement is a reverse-engineered alien technology, Timothy Sutter is a poltergeist infesting usenet, and so forth.
However, considering how a substantial chunk of our daily lives 'happens' on the Internet and computers in general, I cannot help wondering whether people ever observe genuine high strangeness phenomena (with 'genuine high strangeness' I mean things that cannot be explained away in terms of bugs, malware, hacking etc).
The movie Kairo (highly recommended, btw) got me thinking. Also, if I'm not wrong, I remember Terence McKenna talking about how aliens could have evolved into beings of pure information and how something like the Internet could make a much more likely 'landing zone' than, say, the White House lawn or Johannesburg.

So, here's the question: do you know of any accounts (or maybe even personal experiences) related to paranormal phenomena happening on computers or the Internet?

Tx

Just in the movies. It would seem like an ideal medium, though (no pun intended.) The amount of energy needed to flip a bit is quite small, so if paranormal activity is done at a higher, more rarefied level you would think it might be ideal. On the other hand, it may be difficult to invent a paranormal keyboard on the Other Side, so maybe the whole idea is just too difficult.

Yes I have noted many strange things that have made me wonder exactly what you
suggest. In fact so many that I have started a list beleive it or not.

Despite what you say about bugs, malware etc, these events are just too specific
for me to put down to coincidence. However I cannot really believe that the things I have noticed are truly paranormal. Like Mr Starcke pointed out on this weeks show such experiences are probably totally within the realms of normality it's just that we dont have a handle on them yet.

I tend to think that because we are spending more time on the internet for whatever reason things like this are just bound to happen. Having said that I wonder if what David has talked about before, something along the lines of using light for carrying information, please excuse my caveman like description. Will have even more impact.

Just musing.

Thank you guys. In fact, I'm still busy 'digesting' the implications of these ideas.
A thought: If we assume that this (apparent, for now) absence of activity points to an actual 'segregation' of domains for the paranormal, could we learn anything useful/interesting from that? Specifically: anything about the underlying nature of the phenomena in the domains where they *do* occur? I don't have an answer, but I find the idea intriguing. For now, I'll just keep on writing down what I come up with :)
