Paranormal car repair?

I heard this today on one of my favorite radio shows, Car Talk:

Car Talk

Listen to Segment 9. The caller's car stopped running, and while she was sitting there stranded, a "very white" man wearing white clothes driving a white car comes by and tells her "start it up". She tries starting her car again and it starts, and after that never has any problems.

Paranormal car repair?

Good enough for a laugh.

Being in the automotive business I have heard of events like this minus the white-haired guy on a fairly regular basis. The two major causes are ignition modules in 1989-1997 Fords (they get hot from the engine and just shut down, then the engine cools and the module cools off...vehicle starts back up) and fuel system problems on a great deal of older cars especially right after a fill up or when the gas tank is almost empty (the sock filter on the pickup gets covered with debris and varnishes from within the tank that has been stirred up.)

On the caller's vehicle, I'd have to agree with the Car Talk guys though...some sort of electrical problem that probably manifested from a combination of high altitude and hot running.
