Just a heads up. Patrick McGoohan (No.6 in The Prisoner) has died, aged 80.

Possibly one of the most enigmatic actors ever, and the creator and part writer of The Prisoner ... one of the greatest TV series ever.

Obituary here at the BBC:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/5083460.stm

Apparently he was even up for the roles of Dumbledore, AND Gandalf ... but that was not to be (how utterly fascinating he would have been in either role? :))

Oh well ... RIP, Pat ... you're free at last :)

I saw the news this morning, it was very sad...but then of course he was 80, and we are all mortal. But he'll be missed nevertheless. The man brought a touch of class to his roles. And he made an excellent villain.

I loved The Prisoner when I was a sprog back in the '60s (especially Rover...who knew a balloon could be terrifying?).

I hope everyone will join me in a chorus of "I am not a number, I am a free man!".
Words to live by.
