If there is serious scientific inquiry into the matter of UFO's, where is it?? Certainly MUFON isn't it. And while we see comprehensive reports from time to time, they are not any kind of scientific papers. This is an enigma that escapes scientific scrutiny for any number of reasons. We have blurry photos, radar hits that could mean anything, trace evidence that is interesting but not telling us anything, and witness accounts. Witness accounts aren't scientific either. Human accounts are both fallible and many times incorrect. Even though they play a major part of UFO sightings, they aren't scientific.
I don't debate that the topic is worthy of study, but this is like the football that Lucy pulls from Charlie Brown. Anytime we think we may be getting close, we swiftly kick air and land on our asses. The true "evidence" is always swept up by the government or MIB's or whatever else. The events are hardly repeatable even though we have similar types of sightings. Anyway if there is some organization that does scientific studies, let me know what I'm missing.
As far as Kimball, I used to read his blog quite often. Then, recently he seems to have stopped writing about the field of ufology, and tried to popularize himself, his movie(Top 10), his articles for Alien Worlds, and so on. I got tired of hearing about the Zorgy awards and how great Tim Binnall and the rest of the youth in ufology are. For someone as serious as Kimball seems, the Paracast didn't even get an entry into the Zorgy awards. And we know it IS the only show, so far as I can tell, that really tries to separate the signal from the noise. This is despite any repercussions.
I wish Kimball well. Perhaps he has just said everything he wants. How much more is there? There doesn't seem to be any grand awakenings in the field. He probably just realizes that ufology is a waste of his time anymore. Until something major happens in this murky field I can understand his view. Now, human space exploration is definitely something to keep our eyes on in the upcoming decades. In my estimation, THIS is how we find ET (OK, maybe a robot finds it first). We have to go out and look for it. This is our future and it is terribly exciting.
