Yeeeeeaaaa! It's an annual event for me and my family to watch the Perseids. We are cooking out this evening and have out lawn chairs ready to go!
Now, if the weather would just cooperate.

Too cool! I appreciate the offer spooky! Maybe next time because I'm in North Carolina and I think by the time I get a flight and went through all the
security checks it would be after sunrise tomorow morning!

The weather here is now partly cloudy but is supposed to be clearing off anytime and have a clear night (fingers crossed).

I'm glad you started this thread, I think I'll occassionally post our talley of meteors as the night goes by!

Good call!

Right now it's mostly overcast but it *should* clear by later tonight. I hope so. It's usually wonderful viewing the Perseid Meteor Shower here in the Rockies.

If you have an android phone the meteor shower calendar just got upgraded so you can share results socially if thats your thing.

Look, listening to the shower is NOT the same as watching it, plain and simple.

No it's not. I hope you got to see some of it at least.
And I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound, but my kids and I counted over 150 from 3:30EST to sunrise at about 6:00ext. I am SOOOO tired.

I was out for those approximate hours p.s.t. and probably only saw about 1/3 rd that total but it was still worth it. from my vantage point it looked liked that the pleaides, which were visible just above jupiter and Aldebaran were coming under direct assault from the perseid onslaught. It was definitely one sided. That moon venus jupiter lineup was a nice bonus
