Petraeus betraeus his wife

Anybody besides me think that this whole petraus/allen thing is more than just about a man keeping his dick In his pants. I wonder if david isn't falling on the sword and taking himself out to avoid something bigger like benghazi and while we are all chattering about an affair there might be something bigger afoot. Why is the fbi so friggin 8-) occupied with david's infidelity ? admittedly such misadventures could put him in a position for blackmail...not a good position for a cia head ( 7 in 8 years ?)...I have heard that the fbi and cia are not exactly drinking buddies but unless there is something bigger afoot I'd say the fbi has it in for the cia

It's a tit for tat game between republicans and democrats over the Benghazi affair. Cain is trying to get the lid off by opposing the appointment of Susan Rice who said it wasn't a terrorist attack. In 2004, a Condoleezza Rice told everybody there were WMD lol.

Petraeus apparently has info that Obama doesn't want disclosed... The sex scandal was perfect timing ?

At this level it's always more than appears. I also note a story today on NPR about how the general's paramour is in big trouble and losing her security clearances. Sounds like the sizzle of small fish frying.

It is certainly bigger than the affair flap. Look at the timing.....right on the wings of an investigation into the 9/11 attacks in Libya. I think it is a well timed distraction.

Definitely a distraction. My guess is there was a major fuck up in Benghazi on part of the current administration and Patreaus had all the scoop that would have directly implicated Obama and his re-election efforts. They needed him to keep his mouth shut so the affair was played as a card. I'm sure there was a deal made where he and the other general could retire quietly and keep their full benefits with pensions if they took a dive. There is probably a lot more to this than we'll ever know. To be honestly I'm truly scared of this administration and what they're capable of.

I'm glad at least we haven't found anyone dead in the park yet like we did with a previous president. This kind of thing happens all the time. It was argued how unimportant Clintons affair was to his function in his job and he still gets around the talk circuit making millions per showing MR Teflon himself and Obama is looking more and more like Teflon man 2.

An affair only matters if they don't like you.

In the end, though, Petraeus delivered information that totally messes up the current Republican clap-trap about that silly talking points memo. He testified in November that the CIA removed references to certain terrorist groups from the memo so as not to compromise the investigation, or alert potential culprits as to what we might know about them. Period.

The rest is all about what is essentially a Microsoft Word document that went back and forth through several agencies and was appropriately discussed and modified. That's par for the course.

This dictum that Obama is afraid to use the word "terror" is disproven by his two statements right after the episode, in which he used the word terror. Don't forget where he made a fool of Romney during the second debate on that very issue.

In the end, the real concern is not that stupid memo or why it was edited, and nobody has really disputed Petraeus' version, but whether better protection could have been made available, who did it, and why. Over two dozen problems were found with the State Department as the result of an investigation into the episode, which they agreed to address. And does anyone remember what political party reduced the State Department's security budget by more than $300 million in 2012, and how that might have impacted the safety of American citizens working at diplomatic institutions in trouble spots around the world?

Yes, I'm sure there were screw ups, but the media is collectively coming across as dumb and dumberer for focusing on one damn memo that has nothing to do with what happened, why, and what can be done to keep it from happening again.

Gene, posts like that may leave you accused of practicing investigative journalism. ;)

And Petraeus-- a power-brokering beltway indwelling man whose belt gives way in the company of strange women? I'm shocked, shocked I say !
