Planetary Response

Paranormal Adept
I'm interested, assuming that UFO's are real and that the abduction scenario seems firmly associated with what appear to be craft from somewhere else.
what should our response as a species be ?
should we develop the technology to defend our selves or go down the peace, love and mung bean path of the "space brothers" scenario.

To whom are we responding? How many species are represented? Are they all on the same page? How many are hostile? Can we even trust them?

I don't think you can really break this down to "Aliens are real- now what?"

The question was prompted by something Mr Vallee said in his recent spot on the Paracast.
that perhaps the Govt/s dont know much more than we do. that there here but we dont know why or where from.

if thats true, what should the reaction be, do we as a species have the right to "grapple" with what ever it /they are.

do we accept our place in the "food chain" so to speak or engineer a change in position.

To even ask such questions assumes we'd be capable of doing so. Or rather, we'd be allowed to do so.

the "allowed" factor can be mitigated by deception.
so far weve been "allowed" to build enough nuclear bombs to crack the planet 3 times over
weve been "allowed" to develop guidance systems that let us shoot down objects in orbit.

will we be "allowed" to declare our independance so to speak ?

i guess thats my question should we try ?

Let's ask someone who has been abducted, or who has known people who have been abducted and see what they have to say. Seems as though the experiences are as unique as the people to whom they occur. As to whether or not we're capable of stopping them from abducting us, or preventing it, I'm of the opinion that we need to learn a lot more before we'll be able to even begin to figure out how that would work.

Before you could even think about defense it seems to me that you would first need to develop:

1. Reliable observation methods
2. Reliable identification methods
3. Optionally, reliable communication methods if possible.

To my knowledge we haven't even achieved the ability to reliably observe them.

In case you missed it, there was a Paracast episode dealing with this topic that featured Dr. Travis S. Taylor, a coauthor of Planetary Defense: A Study of Modern Warfare Applied to Extra-Terrestrial Invasion.

i had missed it, thanks for pointing it out, i really enjoyed it.
it struck me as i was listening that an awful lot of the scenarios could be countered with a massive deadman switch, a kind of planetary suicide bomb.........
i suppose enough nuclear warheads to crack the planet 3 times over would do.

the mention of the predator prey model that proliferates our environment also had me wondering if they are only pretending to be predators, the mischief ,mutilations, abductions being a sort of subtle education campaign designed to make us "grow up" and face the reality that an exo terrestrial universe is a harsh mistress, that we cant just wander out into the galaxy with unarmed unsheiled spacecraft, anymore than we would wander naked and unarmed thru a wildlife preserve in africa.

the predator prey model has always been the ultimate "test" with the ultimate "result", perhaps that same model is being used to tease us into an exo terrestrial maturity, the peace love and mung beans school is sometimes proposed as "maturity", but this doesnt fit the existing predator prey model
