Black smoke eminating from "Da Holy Papal Chimney";
this means that the cardinals are locked in discussion, voting is at a stalemate with no clear popetastic endeavour, back to chuffing fat doobies and quaffing the Cristal, the smoke from said cannabis/pcp/meth inhalation exiting via a chimney out into the vatican air.

I just don't understand. The whole Pope thing seems very idle-whorshippy to me. He's just a man. The church consideres the pope infallible. Christianity teaches only one person (Christ) is infallible. The vigil many are holding seems like celebrity ideology.

Am I alone on this?

No

Judaism generally views Jesus as one of a number of false messiahs who have appeared throughout history.[1] Jesus is viewed as having been the most influential, and consequently the most damaging, of all false messiahs.[2]

Judaism has never accepted any of the claimed fulfillments of prophecy that Christianity attributes to Jesus. Judaism also forbids the worship of a person as a form of idolatry, since the central belief of Judaism is the absolute unity and singularity of God.[3

I liked Palpatine somewhat (I'm german , sue me), he wasn't terrible, he was Pope. John Paul was far from being a Saint either, as much as many people believe him to be. Why do I find this interesting again ?

No you are not alone in this. There are a lot of good people in the Catholic church though. It doesn't seem like celebrity ideology it IS celebrity ideology. No other religious body that I am aware of would get this much attention in the media. What does that say? Answers may vary.

When a belief system departs from its roots can it still call itself by the name? It can but it will only be in name.
