2 weeks ago I was sitting in my office listening to the latest episode of Realm of the Weird about a psychic who had a strange effect on electricity. Without going into the episode at the end the host listed several problems he had while trying to record and post the episode. He attributed this to the influence of the subject who had died well before the episode was created. The host asked listeners to contact him if there were any interfereanced while playing the episode.

Sure enough as I started the episode my PC which was charging my iphone suddenly shut down and said the port had a power surge. By the end of the episode and after I heard the message from the host the charge cord had began to smoke.

Promptly threw that cord away and have had no issues since, but I also dont listen to that episode anymore.

I see the problem. You hooked an Apple product to a PC and experienced instant karma. You should have promptly thrown away the PC. ;)

Ive had weird stuff happen to me.
I used to be the sole computer manager/technical support person for a whole hospital.

I had one instance with a printer in the accounts dept that had a woman resign she was so spooked by it.
My pager would go off, printer stalled in accounts.
I would make my way to their office and as soon as i walked in the door, the printer started working. i would leave and ten mins later the same thing, pager goes off, i walk up to accounts dept walk in the door, and bingo it just starts printing. This happened so often the poor woman decided something un natural was going on and quit.
I had many other instances where as soon as i touched a device it just started working.

"How did you do that ?" was a common question to which i joked, i carry a screwdriver and they know it, if they misbehave i open em up, and they hate that.

You should go into repair work Mike......Are you sure there wasn't someone around the corner watching you holding the extension cord to the printer? Not that I would ever do that mind you.

There seem to be a lot of strange things happening in hospitals.

Yeah in addition to running the mainframe, i did a lot of the repair work.
In those days an ability to use a soldering iron was essential
I did everything mainframe, peripherals, cableing the works
Training the biologicals was by far the hardest part :D

There was no funny biz with extension cords, that particular printer was inside an acoustic hood and pluged into the wall in the corner it lived in.

Really great experience it was for me too, the walls downstairs where my computer room was had gas light fittings set flush in the plaster, the electrical conduits and then the later computer cableing was all tacked on as externals.

So that old building saw gas lights, then electricity, then computer cables in its life. The marble stairs that led down to my area were dished out with age
