Praying Mantis at my doorstep (Paracast related)

A couple years ago after listening to a Paracast podcast at work ( I work night shifts and can use my Ipod shuffle) I came home to find a Praying Mantis on my door step looking at me. The weird thing is that in the particular episode of the topic of the podcast Mantis looking aliens were being discussed. That was the first and last time I've ever seen one.

Do you remember which episode it was or who the guests were? I'd like to listen to the episode you're talking about.
 
So would I. I had an "encounter" with one as I child that I still dream about from time to time and the incident served as ground zero behind an helluva synchonicity I had several years ago

You had an encounter with a mantis being or a preying mantis?
 
Sorry didn't mean to imply anything spectacular, it was just a mantis, many years ago one summer I was sitting on the steps of my grandmothers house...I was wearing shorts...with my attention elsewhere. All of a sudden I was aware of a tickling/scratching on my lower thigh just above my left knee when I turned my head to look at what it was I was feeling. I saw it was an adult mantis and was using my knee as a perch of sorts . I got the sense it was scoping out it's territory in that it was using my knee as a vantage point. Or so I sensed, pretty unusual behavior at any rate, it was inches from my face and despite the fact I was at that age where young boys were fascinated with bugs it still initially freaked the hell out of me. I actually said "hello" to it in part to assure myself, it turned and faced me and we actually spent a few moments contemplating each other. I knew then I had nothing to fear from it and left it alone to do it's thing. Next time I looked it had vanished, just like that. it obviously had a big impact on me as I have dreamt of that episode from time to time and it had a pretty cool pay off several years ago.

I figured you weren't talking about a mantis type being just wanted to be sure. So what was the payoff, just out of curiosity?
 
It was a multi- leveled/episode synchronistic event over several days involving mantis's (note the plural) after I got back from a trip from back home where I had an eye opening talk with my sister about our childhood experiences, I had one of my mantis dreams and had another of my reoccurring childhood dreams involving a ghost of a young girl which apparently manifested itself shortly before I arrived home. As soon as I got back home and started work I had the aforementioned synchronistic experience. It's funny this thread got started when it did as I've started working on posting this event (with more detail) for the my personal experiences thread which afaic I can chalk this up to another synchronicity event that was mantis related!!
